Survey Results!

Parents thank you for your survey participation. Our survey results are in, and kids win hands down with their overwhelming suggestion to add games to my blog. We have opted to list http://www.ecokids.ca/ which is a wonderful site recommended to us by our survey participants in Canada, as a top pick. This game site provides games that promote environmental awareness while teaching kids about saving our precious plant earth. It's a wonderful site used by kids and teachers, and we thank everyone for their recommendation. And in case you just might ask, a favorite game site at our house is http://www.gameknot.com/. Gameknot even has a tournament coming up on August 2nd, there is a five game minimum to join the tournament so you may want to get started today.

We're certainly not ruling out direct access to video game sites right here at your finger tips as some kids have recommended, including my own tiny tot. As most parents will agree, the array of pop up ads will require a little more homework, to ensure that parents will appreciate my game site choice, and that kids will continue to learn and play while using my selected video site. And, just to give you an idea about our own market product, we are currently working on a video game creation to include dinosaurs past and present (birds).

In the meantime, we hope you and your family will enjoy the recommendations we've noted, and if you have any suggestions please do not hesitate to send us an email.

Parent's Corner Update

Cell Phones and Cell Damage

How big a deal is the cell phone, cell damage debate? Industry insiders are comparing the current cell phone debate to former discourse regarding theTobacco industry. Parents we urge you to listen up, and follow this important discussion. Although the verdict is still out pending additional research, the European Union (EU) is funding a broad new research project regarding radiofrequency emissions. The EU research intends to evaluate the potential damage that wireless technology, particularly cell phones, can have on children since children tend to have a thinner skull.

Leading radiofrequency emissions scientists from around the world have concluded troubling scientific evidence that long-term exposure to radiofrequency emissions from wireless devices could be linked to cancer and other health problems. Although answers are still pending, and ongoing research is still being conducted, we recommend that you take time to research for your own peace of mind, the amount of radiation emitting from your child’s cell phone. The Environmental Working Group website located at http://www.ewg.org/
, can serve as a starting point for your quantitative analysis. The site has an interactive database (right side tool bar click Cell Phone Radiation Report) to assist you with making a decision about your current and/or next cell phone purchase based on radiation levels . In the interim, from our house to your house, we recommend texting, not just because it’s a fun thing to do, but because texting provides less radiation exposure. bwrightparents

It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday

Class of 2010
With Pre-K Graduation behind us, we look ahead with anticipation of all the wonders that learning will continue to bring. However, we'd first like to reflect on our graduation ceremony, which was as perfect as the weather that day. With childhood songs, national anthems, costumes, and performances by each class, the entire ceremony stood out as terrific, amazing, and quite kindergarten ready. Smiling among the children as they performed, and giggles of joy as they received their diploma's, makes it really hard to say goodbye to all the enjoyment of Pre-K. We thank the younger classmates for their stellar performance to bid the graduating students farewell, and good luck.

End of the year class projects such as autographed year end books, and teacher remembrance tailored to each student were heartwarming to say the least. Such pleasant memories and memorabilia will remain preserved and treasured in our hearts for a lifetime. Special thanks to Mrs. Wheeler, for encouraging curiosity, excellence, compassion and civility .

All a board!

If the environmental impact from the Gulf oil spill put a damper on your family's summer beach plans, consider a scenic train ride for a bit of nostalgia. Train buffs who perhaps missed the coast to cost National Train Day celebration on May 8th, don't despair, you can join National Train Day on facebook, join the train day celebration email update list, or call Amtrak to find out about reserving a train to host an event.

So gather up the kids this summer and chug-a-chug-a choo choo! Enjoy your train ride.

Share your beach alternative vacations with us - we'd love to pass along suggestions and your feed back. bwrightparents

Encourage your family to help clean up the environment

Your Family Can Help Clean Up the Oil Spill
That’s right – we urge you to do your share and help clean up the oil spill. It’s simple, at our Hair Cuttery Salon hair is sent to "Matter of Trust." You can read more about how our salon is helping with this environmental disaster, and if your salon is not yet participating in the clean up – tell them to get on board and do their share! Thanks so much bwrightparents:

"Thousands of pounds of hair clippings to be donated to "Matter of Trust" to make hairbooms and hairmats to soak up the oil. Vienna, VA – Ratner Companies, parent company of close to 1,000 Hair Cuttery, Bubbles and Salon Cielo salons, is devoted to its partnership with "Matter of Trust," an environmental non-profit organization to clean up the Gulf oil spill. Ratner is collecting tens of thousands of pounds of hair by the truckloads from their salons across the country. Ratner is taking the largest initiative on a national basis by relying on all of their family owned salons to contribute to this vital cause.

"We at Ratner Companies are continuing our passionate efforts to protect the environment by being part of this nation-wide effort to help contain this devastating oil spill," said Dennis Ratner, Founder and CEO of Ratner Companies. "Our caring stylists and clients are committed to making a difference in their communities and have shown an overwhelming amount of support for our hair collection program," said Ratner. "The hair we collect will be used to make thousands and thousands of hairmats and hairbooms and will mitigate the damage created by this terrible eco-disaster."

Because it is imperative to get the collected hair to the areas along the Gulf Coast as quickly as possible, Ratner Companies has partnered with Federal Express to ship the hair to Matter of Trust. . ."

Just Before We Begin Our Summer Time Fun

From our house to your house my mom and I wanted to say congratulations to my Pre-K classmates! As the school year, and spring semester come to a close - and summer camp will soon begin, we'd like to congratulate my graduating class for hard work well done.

Now that my tiny tot has had his say, I'd like to add that learning ABCs, Numbers, Writing, and Math is no easy task for busy little ones who are on the go I know, but they did it! In between sports events, play dates, and late nights, these lil ones mastered the task at hand, and are now ready for KINDERGARTEN! Hip Hip Hooray we say.

In addition, learning right from wrong along the way, better prepared these future leaders for making smart choices along life's way. So, on your mark! Get set! Gooooooooooo and enjoy your 2010-2011 school year. bwrightparents
